IFLE News – Training for Caribbean DELF Examiners is still ongoing!

As the year draws to a close, the IFLE pedagogical team remains committed to providing support to French teachers, and specifically DELF examiners, of the English-speaking Caribbean. In fact, 4 distinct initiatives will involve the latter before the end of 2020:

  1. Individual tests will be administered to examiners whose certifications were no longer valid at this time. This will be done online and examiners from Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines and Jamaica will participate. Should they pass, their accreditation to correct the DELF exam will be renewed for 5 additional years.
  2. Training sessions for the DELF B1-B2 will be offered to examiners who are already certified for the A1 and A2 levels. Three countries have already confirmed their participation, including Barbados, Grenada and Saint Lucia. This will take place from November 30th to December 4th.
  3. Training will be provided to Jamaican teachers to become DELF examiners for the A1-A2 levels. Due to the pandemic, this training, which was initially due was to be held in person last February, had to be canceled. However, the sessions will now take place online, from December 7th to 11th, and 8 teachers will still have the opportunity to get certified as DELF examiners for five years.
  4. New content will be added to the online training hosted on Tree Learning platform. This training is open to the examiners who want to go over what they learnt and make sure they are up-to-date with France Education International’s guidelines. Two new modules have been added: one focusing on the correction of the A1 exam, and the other one on the A2 level. A 4th webinar will complete this training in the upcoming weeks.

These activities will be the last of a long series carried out by the pedagogical team as part of the IFLE project. The team has traveled to 5 Caribbean countries to certify approximately 60 new examiners, created 4 online training modules, and hosted 3 webinars. This may well be one of the most complete training ever offered to DELF examiners in the region and we are confident that the upcoming DELF exam session will be a success!
