On February 25th, a press conference was held at the Alliance Française of St Lucia, in the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Philippe Ardanaz, Ms Christel Outreman (Regional Counsellor for Cooperation – Caribbean Region) and Ms Evelyne Gasse (IFLE Project Chief).
The conference aimed at presenting the latest initiatives carried out by the embassy, such as the RePlast and Interreg, as well as present IFLE achievements in 2019 and activities for 2020.
H.E. Ambassador Ardanaz gave opening remarks and reminded the audience how crucial enhanced collaboration is between France, specifically its overseas territories (Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guiana), and the Caribbean. Exchanges need to be stimulated and the IFLE project is a great example of how it can be achieved.
Ms Outreman also emphasized on the importance of interactions and cooperation between the francophone and anglophone territories of the Caribbean, and mentioned upcoming events supported by the french embassy, such as Gout de France.
Ms Gasse closed the press conference with a presentation of the IFLE 2019 report and a summary of the IFLE activities planned for the rest of the year, including the International Francophonie Day in St Vincent next month, the IFLE VAPA Program meeting in Grenada and the second edition of the International French Teachers’ Day carded for November in Jamaica.
