Virtual Reality workshops at the Alliance Française of St Lucia

The Alliance Française of Saint Lucia has recently launched a series of workshops about how to use Virtual Reality (VR) when teaching French. A group of innovative teachers has been created to work on this project during monthly meetings at Alliance Française.

The second workshop was held last Saturday (09.11.2019), with the participation of Ms Bernice “Joy” Lewis, who is developing the use of VR in schools. She made a presentation about the benefits of using VR in education (such as increased motivation, learner-centered approach, help for visual learners, etc.) and gave a demonstration on how to use the headsets with online VR videos. The participants were then asked to work in groups and create a pedagogical activity based on a VR video of their choice.

All the teachers in attendance were really excited by this new technology and the endless possibilities it offers. During the next workshops, they will work together to create pedagogical sequences for primary and secondary school students, that will be available at Alliance Française.
